BAE studentsIn fulfilling their business initiative to innovate for a safer world, BAE Systems of North America is committed to making our world a better place, beginning right at home. Their charitable contributions are local to international in scope.

BAE staffOn an national level, BAE Systems of North America works side-by-side with organizations like the American Cancer Society, CharityWorks, the March of Dimes, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, and Special Olympics.

Locally, the Nashua, NH, unit of BAE Systems North America supports NH high school students competing in the FIRST robotics challenge. They financially support a high school team, and the BAE staff mentors that team in designing, building and testing their competition robots.

In encouraging students to pursue education and careers in science, the Information and Electronic Warfare Systems unit of BAE Systems North America in Nashua, NH,offers internship opportunities to college students interested engineering and electronics. Intern positions located in Merrimack, New Hampshire for summer 2007 were:

Test and Analysis of Opto-Electronic Systems and Components: 1 to 2 ECE, ME or Physics students supporting analysis and development of test plans and development of test configurations for validation of opto-electronics components as part of a larger optical system being develop for a space application.

Support of Modeling and Simulations: 1 ECE or ME student supporting development and updating of Simulink control models for a stabilized laser system.

Integration and Testing– Satellite payload and bus subsystems:
2 students supporting integration and testing of satellite payload and bus subsystems, including the development of test plans, definition of test configurations, test execution, analysis of results and test reports. Available to ECE students, but ME if the project is in the qualification test phase.

Component Engineering: 1 student supporting component engineering for space systems, including development of component specifications for space qualified components, test requirements, and working with vendors to determine qualifications and screening requirements. Available to ECE students. Available to ECE students, but ME if the project is in the qualification test phase.

BAE-Systems, through the NASA Space Grant Exploration Systems and the University of New Hampshire, also offered one summer 2007 internship opportunity in Manassas, Virginia, with suitable location specific package available to that intern. The position:
